Bishop Lucia has announced new clergy assignments effective in January 2026.

The Diocese of Syracuse celebrates its 139th anniversary of its foundation in 1886, which means we will begin our 140th year of service to the people of CNY.

Rev. Friar Nader N. Ata, OFM Conv., formerly the Parochial Vicar of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Syracuse, New York has been appointed Rector (Pastor), of the same church. This appointment is effective November 19, 2025.

Bishop Lucia has joined the Bishops of NYS in a statement entitled "For You Too Once Were Aliens". The statement, released on the Memorial of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini - the first American Saint and the Saint of Immigrants - addresses the issue of immigration. Bishop Lucia has written to all of us about this statement and his hope is that we will read it, pray over it and consider taking the Cabrini Pledge.
