Diocesan Compliance Audit

Most Rev. Douglas J. Lucia received confirmation from an independent auditor that the Diocese of Syracuse has completed the 2024–2025 data collection required by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

Established in 2002, the Charter establishes policies and procedures to prevent the sexual abuse of minors within the Church. It focuses on prevention, reconciliation, healing, accountability, training, and background screenings. The diocesan Offices of Safe Environment and Victim Assistance submit data for annual review, with an on-site audit conducted every third year. The Diocese’s next on-site audit is scheduled for fall 2026.
