In accordance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, each diocesan entity provides for the protection of children, young people, and vulnerable adults through training, criminal background screening, and Safe Environment protocols. In the Diocese of Syracuse, the Diocesan Bishop has maintained a Safe Environment Committee, with its Chairperson serving in an advisory capacity, providing review, research, and recommendations to support the ongoing development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Safe Environment policies, including the Diocesan Child and Youth Protection Policy and the Diocesan Code of Conduct, as well as compliance with applicable Church and civil requirements.
The Bishop has appointed officials from selected diocesan departments to serve as ex-officio members of the Safe Environment Committee. The Diocesan Bishop, in consultation with the Diocesan Review Board, provides oversight of the Committee’s work.SAFE ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEMBERS
