Statement on Political Responsibility

All Saints Parish in Syracuse, New York, hosted a Democratic voter engagement presentation by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.  This was not a presentation that was approved by Bishop Lucia, nor was it one that the Chancery was informed of prior to media coverage of the event. 

Partisan political events are strictly prohibited in any diocesan parish, office, or school. Furthermore, politicians who advocate policies contrary to Church teaching on fundamental moral issues, such as abortion, are not permitted to speak in diocesan or parish facilities.
