Priest Assignments Summer 2025

Reverend John F. Brusa III was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Syracuse on June 7, 2025. Father Brusa is appointed as the Parochial Vicar of St. James Church, Johnson City, New York, effective July 1, 2025.

Reverend James V. Buttner was previously Parochial Vicar of Spirit of Hope Catholic Community, which includes St. Agatha Church, Canastota, New York; with its mission, St. Mary of the Lake, Verona Beach, New York; St. Joseph Church, Oneida, New York; St. Patrick Church, Oneida, New York; St. Helena Church, Sherrill, New York; and Holy Family Church, Vernon, New York. He is appointed Parochial Vicar of Divine Mercy Parish, Central Square, New York; and Sacred Heart Parish, Cicero, New York; and will begin studies in Canon Law, effective July 1, 2025.

Reverend Joseph P. Ryan was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Syracuse on June 7, 2025. Father Ryan is appointed Parochial Vicar of Spirit of Hope Catholic Community, which includes St. Agatha Church, Canastota, New York; with its mission, St. Mary of the Lake, Verona Beach, New York; St. Joseph Church, Oneida, New York; St. Patrick Church, Oneida, New York; St. Helena Church, Sherrill, New York; and Holy Family Church, Vernon, New York; effective July 1, 2025.
