Syracuse, NY — The Diocese of Syracuse is pleased to announce the promotion of Julie Moss to the role of Associate Director of Safe Environment, effective July 1, 2025.
Julie has served as Program Coordinator for the Safe Environment Office since July 2022, where she has played a key role in strengthening the Diocese’s commitment to protecting children, youth, and vulnerable adults. During her time in this position, Julie has been instrumental in the recent updates to the Safe Environment Code of Conduct, the revision and relaunch of both the initial and recertification trainings, and the implementation of certification requirements for Liturgical Ministers.
Julie brings over 15 years of experience in Catholic education and parish ministry. Prior to joining the diocesan office, she taught Theology and History at Bishop Grimes Jr./Sr. High School from 2007 to 2022. Since 2018, she has served as the Director of Elementary Faith Formation at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Baldwinsville, and in 2024 expanded that role to include St. Augustine and St. Mary of the Assumption, also in Baldwinsville.
A proud alumna of both St. Daniel’s School and Bishop Grimes, Julie holds multiple degrees from Le Moyne College, including a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Master of Science in Teaching Secondary Education, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership.
In her new role as Associate Director, Julie will assist in ongoing updates to the Diocesan Child and Youth Protection Policy, the revision of Safe Environment training for youth, and expand resources and support for parishes, schools and ministries throughout the Diocese.
