Rev. Friar Nader N. Ata, OFM Conv., formerly the Parochial Vicar of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Syracuse, New York has been appointed Rector (Pastor), of the same church. This appointment is effective November 19, 2025.

Bishop Lucia has joined the Bishops of NYS in a statement entitled "For You Too Once Were Aliens". The statement, released on the Memorial of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini - the first American Saint and the Saint of Immigrants - addresses the issue of immigration. Bishop Lucia has written to all of us about this statement and his hope is that we will read it, pray over it and consider taking the Cabrini Pledge.

Today, Pope Leo XIV has shared with the Church and all people of goodwill the Apostolic Exhortation "Dilexi te”. He addresses it, “To all Christians on Love of the Poor.” Yesterday, he shared the text with the Episcopal College (the College of Bishops), and in a note to us, His Holiness wrote, “May ‘Dilexi te’ help the Church to serve the poor and help bring the poor to Christ.”

Most Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, Bishop of Syracuse, will ordain John Brusa III of Syracuse and Joseph Ryan of Binghamton into the priesthood at a Mass on Saturday, June 7 at 10 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Downtown Syracuse.
