Proposal 1 is a wolf in sheep’s clothing that could lead to darkness for many New York families. This amendment disregards the lives of unborn and struggling children in the name of political agendas. It could have dangerous consequences for these children and their parents. As they look to make their voices heard in the public square, faithful Catholics should consider these consequences and vote no. Likewise, they should thoughtfully vote their informed conscience up and down the ballot so that we might usher in change for good.

It is customary for the the Bishop of Syracuse to present the newly ordained priests with their first pastoral appointment at the conclusion of the Ordination Mass.

Most Reverend Douglas J. Lucia will joyfully ordain Rev. Mr. Benjamin Schrantz and Rev. Mr. Pawel Zmija on Saturday June 1, 2024.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse will hold a special ordination Mass on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse, New York. Eight men will be ordained Permanent Deacons by Most Reverend Douglas J. Lucia, Bishop of Syracuse.

The retreat house has served the community for 30 years, providing a sacred space for spiritual renewal and reflection. The decision to close follows careful consideration and prayer, due to a decline in overall demand for retreats coupled with the ongoing need for capital improvements and staffing challenges.

The Diocese of Syracuse announced the difficult decision to close Rome Catholic School at the end of the 2024 academic year.  Rome Catholic School is Pre-K- 6th grade.

After years of declining enrollment and accompanying financial difficulties, the difficult decision was made to close Cathedral Academy at Pompei in Syracuse at the end of the 2024 academic year.
